Find your cover
Which security suits your type of site?
The right mix depends on when your site is empty, who comes and goes, and what is worth stealing. This is the usual starting point for each industry.
| Industry | Usual cover | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Warehouses and logistics | Mobile patrols, alarm response and CCTV monitoring | Quiet at night, high-value stock, large yards |
| Construction sites | Mobile patrols and CCTV towers, static guards for large sites | Open perimeters, portable plant, changing layout |
| Retail and shopping centres | Static guards in trading hours, alarm response after close | Busy public floor, shoplifting, aggression |
| Offices and corporate | Concierge guards and lock-up patrols | Visitors, access passes, after-hours workers |
| Healthcare and aged care | Static guards and after-hours patrols | Vulnerable people, aggression, 24/7 access |
| Schools and universities | Holiday patrols, lock-up and alarm response | Empty for weeks, vandalism, open grounds |
| Strata and residential | Mobile patrols of car parks and common areas | Car park break-ins, loitering, shared access |
| Events and venues | Licensed crowd controllers and static guards | Crowds, alcohol, entry checks |
Risks
What are the main security risks in each industry?
After-hours theft and trespass are the most common risks across Melbourne sites. Aggression matters most in retail, healthcare and events.

How we plan
How do we tailor security to your industry?
Four steps, starting with a free site visit and ending with a review after the first 30 days.
Visit the site
We walk your site, at night if it matters, and ask what has gone wrong before.
Match the risks
We pick the mix of guards, patrols, alarms and CCTV that fits your risks.
Write site instructions
One page officers follow exactly, signed off by you.
Review after 30 days
We check the reports with you and change what is not working.

Licensing explained
How is private security licensed in Victoria?

- ASIAL membership

How to check any security company
- Ask for the business licence number
- Search it on the Victoria Police public register
- Ask for the licence numbers of the officers on your site

Facility, site and strata managers across Melbourne on working with Bluestone.
They picked up at 2 am, had a patrol on site in good time and sent photos before I was even out of bed.

FAQ
What do Melbourne businesses ask before hiring security?
Short answers to the questions we hear most, each in two or three sentences.
Do you protect industries not listed here?
Yes. The eight industries here are the most common, but we protect any Melbourne site that needs licensed guards, patrols, alarm response or CCTV monitoring.
Can one contract cover sites in different industries?
Yes. Many clients have a warehouse, an office and a car park on one contract, with cover planned for each site and one monthly report.
Do officers get industry-specific training?
Yes. On top of their licence, officers get the induction, checks and training each industry needs, such as a Working with Children Check for schools.
Do you provide licensed crowd controllers for events?
Yes. Officers who manage entry and crowds at events and venues hold a crowd controller licence as well as their security licence.
Are your security guards licensed in Victoria?
Yes. Bluestone holds a Victoria Police Private Security Business Licence [licence no.], and every officer holds an individual Victorian security licence for the work they do.
How much does a security guard cost in Melbourne?
It depends on the hours, the number of officers, the site risk and the licence class needed. We give a fixed written quote after a free site assessment.
